Is your SMS ready?

Safety management systems are now mandated in the United States for Part 135 operators and the 36-month deadline is mid-2027.
Members of our team have played key roles in the initial development and implementation of SMS with Part 135 organizations for about 15 years. Starting in 2009 with the FAA’s SMS Pilot Project, leading organizations through the various phases of the SMS Voluntary Program (SMSVP), and now helping them meet the mandate.
To make the process efficient and organized, the VyClimb team has developed a three-phase approach with specific steps, goals, and exit criteria for each phase:
Phase I
Assessment
This initial phase is critical to determine your organization’s current state, identify gaps, and provide insights to organizational leaders. This phase provides the tools for leadership to make decisions about committing the necessary resources for an effective safety management system.
Phase II
Implementation
A deep dive into any portions of the SMS framework that are currently gaps in your operation where processes to fill them will be built using industry best practices. We will coach your team and mentor leaders to not just build the process, but help create an effective culture of safety that brings value to the entire organization. The output of this phase will be a customized, best-in-class SMS Policies & Procedures Manual that is not only compliant but can be realistically trained.
Phase III
Post Implementation Follow-Up
The final stage brings us back to measuring the effectiveness of the implementation to identify and fill any remaining gaps that must be addressed before the FAA’s final review of your SMS.
